I am just getting this page done in time for the Things with Wings challenge over at the Frilly and Funkie Blog.

I started out with some acrylic paint, a baby wipe, Inktense colored pencils, and white gesso.

I then added in some stamping for more interest.

To be totally honest I am not thrilled about this page. I had an idea in my head and went with it. I wanted to do an Ink Jet transfer (I wish I had a toner printer), but as you can see the image really did not come out very good. The ink ran so the image is very unclear. You really could not see the wings on the lady at all, the entire point of this spread. I messed around with shading and pen work, but that really did not help. I finally decided to cover them up with feathers I had inked. The lady is pointing to the sky and it's really too bad I could not get the transfer to work out, because I think it would have been a much more effective page.

I stamped out the saying onto painted and inked cardstock.

So I am chalking this one up to a learning experience and moving on to the next page. Thanks so much for stopping by and if you have any advice on Ink Jet transfers I would be happy to hear it.

  1. I find the same as you these ink jets can be hit and miss and although you feel it has not come out quite how you like, I feel the page is so beautiful. Your imagine has such a haunting feel with those words and holds great impact to the viewer.

Advice on transfers: go ink jet when you don't want a precise transfer or if you want it to look more aged, and go laser jet when you want it cleaner/crisper. This is what I've managed to find out from various research, but I've only ever done this with ink, however my friend did photos with laser and they looked great!

Thanks for entering it over at Frilly and Funkie xx
