Over at The Mixed Media Place the challenge is Architecture. I have always loved architecture and old buildings. This takes me back to school and my drafting and design classes. I had some old drawings that I had done in school and decided to use these in an art journal spread.

I started out by adhering some book text to my pages. I then covered that with a layer of absorbent ground.

I rarely use water colors and for some reason decided this would be a good page to use them on. I was going for a brick color here. My drawings are of a building on the Ohio University campus. The campus is known for it's brick buildings and walkways. I added in some dots with acrylic paint for added interest and texture.

Next I scanned in my drawings and printed them out onto tracing paper. I then painted the background of the tissue paper with blue and white acrylic paint. I adhered this to my page using Matte Medium. After the Matte Medium was almost dry I tore away the edges of the tissue paper leaving some blue and white paint behind.

I used some black India ink so the drawing were not just floating on my page.

Lastly I added in some stamping with a Tim Holtz brick stamp and Fired Brick Distress Ink.

I really had a fun time creating this page and it makes me wish I would have saved more of my drafting projects. Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out the challenge for more inspirational projects.
