Beauty begins...

...the moment you decide to be yourself. - Coco Chanel

I love this quote and decided it would be very fitting for an art journal page. I started by adhering some ephemera to my page and then wrote the quote out using a hot glue gun.

Next I added in some pastel blue an green acrylic paint.

I then added in a glaze of pink. I really like how the glaze sticks to some areas and highlights the texture.

I used a handmade stencil for the flower.

I shaded the flower with Pan Pastels and Derwent colored pencils. I added in some more white acrylic paint for some highlights.

The background still needed something so I added in some stamping and black acrylic paint.

I am submitting this to the Simon Says Stamp Pastels Challenge. It is getting really hard to take good pictures of this art journal as it is very thick. Almost done with this journal and I think the next one I won't make quite so thick. Anyways - I hope you enjoyed my post and as always thanks so much for stopping by!

  1. I love what you did here and just know that I say the fatter the better when it comes to art journals! And you certainly made a stellar page for our challenge. The colors are just beautiful and the flower is a show-stopper. There is so much great detail to see here and one of my very favorite aspects is how you did the glazed text. It looks incredible! Thanks so much for the inspiration and for sharing your talents with us this week for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!
