Over at the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge Blog the challenge is Birds of a feather.

I really did not have too much of an idea on where to go with this - I knew I just wanted to play around with some paints. I started out be adhering down some leftover deli paper prints.

The next layer was paint, stamping, and stenciling.

Once that layer was dry I added in some more paint and stamping. I then decided to doodle a bit with some paint pens.

Once I was happy with the layers I sketched in some birds. I decided to cover up the layers around the birds with a wash of light green paint. I love how the layers underneath still poke through, but the birds pop out.

I then added in a quote with a black paint pen and some doodling around the edge of the page.

Lastly I shaded around the page and the birds with a dark green Pan Pastel.

This was a fun little journal page with lots of layers and playing around. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating it. As always thank you so much for stopping by!
