Happy 2015!. It has been a busy couple of months as we moved into our new house, so I have neglected my blog and my creativity. I am now ready to get back into the swing of thing and I am excited to start creating again. My first project had to be an art journal for the new year.
I recently inherited an old travel trunk and it was full of wonderful goodies. Some of the treasures included fabric. I just fell in love the pattern on 2 of these fabrics. The only delema was I did not have any other coordinating fabric. I decided to create my own with stamps, inks, fabric paint and dye, and some watercolor pencils.
Next I sewed all of the pieces together and then followed Donna Downey's inspiration journal tutorial.
I wanted a few more signatures in mine so the spine is a bit thicker and has more ribbon on it.
I also added some batting in between my fabric and the inside canvas. I wanted to try my hand at some quilting. It is hard to see in the pictures, but it really does add some texture to the cover. You can see the stitching lines better from the inside canvas piece.
So there you have it a new art journal for a new year. I am submitting this to the Simon Says Stamp Something New Challenge. Be sure to stop on over for more inspiration. As always thanks for stopping by and be sure to pop back on over to see how I fill up my art journal pages.
