New Beginnings

I am back today with an art journal page. I decided to combine a few challenges when I created this page.  Over at Mixed Media Place the challenge is something new for the new year and at The Artistic Stamper the challenge is New Beginnings.

I also followed some of Donna Downey's Inspiration Wednesday's video. So for this reason I won't go into too much detail about the background.

I have been really wanting to incorporate more sewing into my art. So I decided this would be my something new to try. I decided to try my hand at free motion stitching using a simple butterfly shape. I stitched onto some scraps of cream fabric backed with white cardstock.

I then stamped onto the butterflies using a dictionary stamp and inked them with Victorian Velvet and Pumice Stone Distress Ink.

I used the same dictionary stamp for some of my torn paper. You can also see some stamped tissue paper peeking though areas of the background.

Here is a close up of my title, which I printed out on craft paper.

I really enjoyed the stitching and hope to do more on another page soon. So stay tuned for my adventures in sewing and as always thank you for stopping by.
