The Mask I Wear

Over at The Mixed Media Place the challenge is Sting's "Shape of My Heart" Song. I listened to the song several times and then looked up the lyrics. One line really stuck out for me - " The Mask I Wear is One". I interpreted this as putting on a mask to cover up feelings so no one knows how you are truly feeling, which I tend to do.

I was having a hard time coming up with a picture of myself that I thought incorporated this idea. So I digitally overlaid one picture on top of another.

In the video the band is dressed in all black and the red cords kept popping out to me. So I decided to keep may background pretty dark with pops of red. I used Dylusions and Perfect Pearls Sprays for my first layer.

I then added in some background stamping with black Archival ink and some red Pebeo Paint through a Tim Holtz Burlap stencil. I really like how the Pebeo paint shimmers.

Next I mixed some Dylusions Spray with modeling paste and applied that through the Tim Hotlz Bubble stencil.

I then added in some more texture with some hot glue. Once the glue was dry I went over it with some gold Inka Gold medium and more Dylusions Spray.

Lastly, I added in the lyrics with some Grunge block letters that I painted, sanded, and inked up.

Thanks for stopping by today!
