Over at the Mixed Media Place they are having a Summer Song Challenge. This month it is George Micheal's Freedom song.
I started out with lots of masking tape in my art journal.
Next I added some gesso and various acrylic paint colors. I smooshed the pages together to get lots of texture and kept adding layers of paint until I was happy with the background.
I added in a bit of stamping for more visual interest. You can really see all of the texture and layers popping through.
When I think of George Micheal's, I think of big hair, leg warmers, and bright neon colors. The word freedom reminds me to let go. So this is how I came up with the fluorescent balloons floating away. I painted the balloons onto deli paper with fluorescent paint pens and then added some highlights with a white paint pen and a white gelato.
Be sure to stop on over to the challenge blog to see all of the wonderful creations. As always thank so much for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed my little Freedom journal spread.
