Embroidery Tags

I am all of the sudden into sewing. It is something I can do in the evenings instead of just sitting in front of the TV. I wanted to incorporate my new found hobby into my art. So I came up with these little tags.

I started out by cutting out my designs from used inky paper towels. If you happened to miss my post on paper towel fabric art please check it out here for more information. I then used heat-n-bond to attach the paper towel shapes to some muslin.

Next I embroidered and stitched around the paper towel shapes. I then painted the muslin background.

For the tags I used some drywall tape that uncovered in a box of stain my husband had in the garage. I adhered this onto my tag using modeling paste.

Next I inked up the tags with some Distress stain. I then used some bubble wrap, an old paper towel cardboard tube, and an old credit card to stamp some paint onto the tags.

I then adhered my stitched muslin onto the tags and stitched around it.
I am submitting this to the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge Blog - Around the house challenge. I hope I have inspired you to try something new - stayed tuned for more sewing in my art. As always thanks for stopping by.
