I am currently reading "Steal Like an Artist" by Austin Kleon. There is a section in the book that really resonated with me to never stop learning. I love learning new techniques, reading, and diving into new found books. I created this art journal page in my response to the book.
I started out by adhering some torn book pages to the background and then spraying it with Dylusions Ink Spray. Next I used the color bleaching technique found over at the Craft Stamper June Challenge. I then added in some dyed modeling paste through a Tim Holtz stencil.
I wanted to cover up a bit more of the book pages and tone down the background just a bit so I scraped some white acrylic paint over everything. I then went around the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and stamped a Tim Holtz Bitty Grunge stamp around the edges.
I used the tattered floral dye to cut out some flowers out of corrugated cardboard. I then used some acrylic paint to highlight the raised edges. I used the Dylusions spray to color some canvas, cheesecloth, a doily, and some torn paper that I layered together on my background.
I stamped the saying onto tissue paper and the adhered that to my page. I like the way the tissue paper disappears into the background and the Dylusions spray comes forward a bit (because it is water soluble)
Lastly I added in my picture which I found at the Graphics Fairy. I inked around the edges and adhered it to a piece of cardstock to pop it off just a bit more. I then roughed up the edges a bit and adhered that to the page.
I am also submitting this to the Simon Says Anything Goes Challenge. Be sure to stop into both blogs to see more wonderful projects. Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you enjoyed my page.
