I will

Over at OWL (one little word) the Challenge is the word will. I decided to create an art journal spread for the challenge.

I was really not sure exactly were I was going to go with this. I started by adhering on lots of scraps of paper. Looks a bit like a mess.

Next I watered down some gesso and went over the entire page.

I then let the gesso dry just a few minutes and then wiped it off. This left a nice cohesive start for a background.

Next I used a stencil to add in some more gesso for some extra texture in areas. I also went all around the outside edges with a Tim Holtz Bitty Grunge stamp.

I then took some spray inks from Dylusions and spritz the entire page to add lots of color. You can see in some areas where the ink dried lighter because there was more gesso there. The ares where I stenciled with gesso stayed even lighter.

I liked the background, but it needed something. So I just kept on messing around. This time I added in some white acrylic paint to a few areas with my fingers. Because the ink is water soluble it died the white paint and I was really happy with how it blended everything together. I then added in some drips of the Dylusions spray using a paint brush and water. I also added a complementary color, pink, by flicking on some Dylusions Bubblegum Pink Spray.

Still not really sure where I was going with this I decided to journal out my feeling on the word will. I used a piece of copy paper, some ink, and a wooden calligraphy stick. Next I decide to cut out a bunch of circles from the journaled page.

I laid the cirles onto the background and thought they were too white. So I used my gelatos and white gesso to add color to them. I them adhered them to the page and went around them with a black pen to pop them off a bit.

Lastly I added in "I Will" with a black Krink pen. I am pretty happy with how the page turned out. I am also submitting this to the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge Spray Inks. Be sure to chack out both challenges for more inspiration. Thank you very much for stopping by.
