I came across this quote last week, - "Attention Do Not Leave Your Longings Unattended. I really wanted to use it and had the idea of using a picture of myself with the quote - As you can see I kind of went in a slightly different direction.
When I was picking out the picture of myself to use I remembered seeing somewhere a way to turn a picture into a stencil. I did a Pinterest search for it and used the tutorial here. Here is how my stencil came out.
And then of course, while on Pinterest, I came across another idea. I found this video by the super talented Jessica Sporn. So here is my take on the video. I started with a some red and orange acrylic paints and smeared them onto the pages with a brayer and old credit card.
Next I created my background for my face stencil. I used several shades of blue acrylic paint and again smeared it around with a credit card. I then used a stencil and acrylic spray to add in some more interest.
I stenciled my face in with black acrylic paint. For some reason I was leaning towards a yellow face. I used some blue acrylic paint for the shading and white for the highlights. I them gave myself some florescent red lips and rosy cheeks.
Using a black paint marker, I added in my saying to some paper painted with the same yellow and fluorescent red. I then adhered it to the blue background paper.
Next created another background using several greens and some white acrylic paint. I stenciled and stamped over this.
I cut out my triangles from the green background paper and adhered them to my page. I used a black Gelato to shade around them. Lastly I adhered my face and saying to the page and went around them with an arrow stencil, red acrylic paint, and a black paint marker.
I am going to submit this to 2 challenges. The Artistic Stamper challenge is Red and the S.W.A.T. challenge is the Selfie. Be sure to stop on over to both the challenges for lots more creative projects. Thank you for reading this far and for stopping by.
