Wild Ride

I really have no idea how this idea came into my head. Maybe it is the warmer spring weather that reminds me of bike riding and Easter being right around the corner made me think of animals like a rabbit. At any rate here it is my latest collage page.

I started out with some spray ink, some acrylic paint, and some stencils. I was really happy with this background and was not even sure I wanted to cover it up.

I then came up with the crazy idea of an animal on a human body bike riding. I used 4 images from the Graphics Fairy. I took the 3 animals heads off of their body's and put them onto the man's body riding a bike. I did all of this digitally and then printed out my collage sheet.

Next step was to paint my city scene. I simply free handed the building in and then painted them with black acrylic paint. I cut out my images and adhered them down.

Now to enhance my images even more. I masked off the man's suit jacket and stamped it using Tim Holtz background stamps from the Bitty Grunge set.

I then went in with Distress Markers, Paint markers, and pens to further bring out the collaged images. I also went around the images with a small black pen so that the little white edges blended in to the background.

All of this took some time, but I am really happy with the outcome. I looks as if my characters really belong on the page.

The last step was to add in the saying. I did this with paint markers and a white pen for highlights.

I am submitting this to the Simon Says Stamp Blog Journey Challenge. As always thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed the "Wild Ride".

  2. Wow! This piece is absolutely fantastic! I love it when a post includes words like, "I really have no idea of how this idea came into my head." You can bet that means that a super unique project is going to follow and you did not disappoint! I love everything about this from the energetic color palette to the whimsical animal-headed bicyclists. And your attention to detail was incredible-- like how you colored the legs of your bicyclists differently than the wheel so it looked like we could actually see their legs through the spokes. Quite brilliant and I found myself smiling at every aspect of this collage. I hope you have more "out of nowhere" ideas soon because this really was a stunner! Thanks for sharing your talents with us here at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog!
