Hydrangeas Peeking out

Over at SEI lifestyle Blog the challenge is Flower power and the image is a picture of hydrangeas. I really wanted to stay true to the hydrangea theme, which was a difficult task. I was digging around though all of my supplies when I came across a stencil that, I think, looks like a hydrangea. So then the ideas started rolling and this is what I came up with - a weekly spread in my art journal.

I wanted to go with the colors in the challenge image so I started with the color of the blue sky.  I dropped several colors of blue acrylic paint onto my pages, spritz it with water, and then let the paint mix together by holding my journal up and turning it in several directions.

After the first layer was dry I used the flower stencil, some purple, pink, and white acrylic paint, and a make-up sponge to apply the paint through the stencil.

Next I added a some yellow and white paint through a sunburst stencil. I really like how you can still see the flowers peeking through.

The final step was adding in my pictures and journaling form the week. I really felt like the saying fitted my week as it was full of ups and downs and lots of arting.

Thank you for stopping by and be sure to check out the SEI blog for more inspiration.
