Saying Good-bye

I have one of the best friends anyone can have. She is my go to person. A person who I can tell anything to and she will not judge. One who is so very kind, yet will give my an honest opinion. I really can't say enough nice things about her. She has been my rock when times are bad and my laughter when times are good. So this week was an especially sad one as she is moving several hours away.  I am filled with a mix of emotions, some bad and some good. I have tried to depict this in my art journal spread.

Over at Simon Says Stamp they are having a pearls challenge. So I decided to try to incorporate this into my spread. I started out with a gesso and perfect pearls background. I love how the perfect pearls settle in all of the cracks and crevices of the gesso.

Next I drew in my people. I should also say that this is inspired by an Effy Wild Book of Days lesson. It then painted and shaded the figures with acrylic paint, Derwent pencils, and charcoal.

I used images that I thought resembled some of my feelings. I wanted to make them look like globes or orbs that the figures were holding. So I went over them with Glossy Accents. It is hard to see in the picture, but I am very pleased with how they came out.

My last step was to add a few more pearls to the bottom of the figures.

Thank you very much for stopping by. I hope you have a person in your life that you just can't let go of - "How lucky I am to have Someone that makes saying good-bye so hard"  - Winny the Pooh
