Dig Deep

You know when you have an idea in your head and your project comes out completely different then what you thought it would be? Well that is how this one turned out. I have been enjoying Root the 30 day Journal challenge and came up with this idea of digging deep while journaling.

My initial thought was to have a lot of texture on the page and to create a hole in the shape of a heart. So I started out with crumbled tissue paper, modeling paste formed into a heart, and Gesso.

I wanted this to be a grungy vintage feel. So my next step was to add some brown glazing. i really like how the glaze made the texture pop.

Next I painted my heart shaped hole. As you can tell, this really did not look much like a hole. I decided to go with it anyways. I added some more texture with Stampendouse embossing powder and micas and some blue acrylic paint spray for some contrast.

I added an image I altered form the Graphic Fairy. I transferred the image onto the page so you can really still see the texture behind her.

Lastly I added my saying to my send page.

In the end I am pretty happy with my page, even though this is not what was in my head. I am going to submit this to the Fussy and Fancy Challenge Vintage. Thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed my page.
