Nurture your Inner Wild

Today I am showing my finished full moon spread. I started this last week (when we had the full moon) and just finished it up.

I started out by just throwing some paint colors down in my art journal.

I am exploring a few new concepts this year and without getting too deep here, my idea for this journal spread was the nurturing Cancer full moon and the wolf moon. The idea came from Effy Wild's moonshine class. I wanted this to be kind of a bit primitive and so I just did a quick sketch with graphite.

I then added the birch trees in using mulberry paper. The tress really blended in a bit too much so I used a wash of white paint to go over them and then added black acrylic paint to mimic the bark. It is hard to see in the pictures, but the texture for the mulberry paper still pops through the paint. I am entering this in the Inkspirational Picture Challenge. Be sure to stop on over and see the famous picture. I choose to use the tress and stars as my elements from the picture.

Next I added the finishing details to my sketch going over it with more paint, shading with a charcoal pencil, adding some shimmer to the moon with stickles, and stamping the stars into the background.

For my second page I wanted to add the highlights of my week. I wanted some interaction with the page so I added 3 tags that flip out. I am going to submit this to the Love to Scrap Tag your it challenge.

I added my text, doodled around the tags, and then stamped the stars into the background and tags.

  2. waow, i'm quite surprised by your project, it's very rich and original. i feel very touched by the girl and the girl. their position, their colors, they perfectly match the sentiment. great to place them in a forest of trees and words too! makes me somewhat think about st exupery's little prince's encounter with the fox.
thank you so much for joining love to scrap! challenge blog this week !♥
