Every Life has a Story

I made this page for an Art Journal Swap over at Art For the Creative Mind Yahoo Group. The theme is your story. I came up with the idea that every life has a story to tell.

I wanted to give the page a vintage feel. So I started with a wash of brown acrylic paint and acrylic glazing liquid.

I let this dry for just a few minutes and then wiped it back with a baby wipe.

I wanted to incorporate quite a few faces into may page. I found some vintage images over at the Graphic Fairy. I had an idea in my head of these photos peeking through some torn paper, like you were peeling back the layers to see the story. So when I transferred the images onto my washed paper I overlapped them in kind of a straight line.

Next step was creating my torn papers. I really wanted a lot of texture on my page. I added some metal chain, modeling paste, tissue paper, and sting.

I them went over the torn paper with some blue and brown acrylic paint. Actually it was a lot of layers of blue and brown acrylic paint until I was happy with the color and texture.

Last step was to add my saying.

I am submitting this to the Warmth of Winter Challenge at the Frilly and Funkie. I really hope my page brings warmth to whoever gets it. I also thought that the blue and brown colors were fitting for the frigid winter we are having. Thank you very much for stopping by and I hope you are staying warm wherever you are.

  1. This is so incredibly imaginative! Love the way you've split the beautifully textured page in two to reveal the array of vintage images. Such a thought provoking and creative take on the challenge. Thanks so much for joining us at Frilly and Funkie with this. Jenny x
