Colorful Tall Blooms

It has been raining all day here, which was a good excuse to stay in and work on another art journal page. I decided to make a brightly colored page since it was so dreary outside.

The background is created with the wonderful Tim Holtz distress Paints. Love the bright colors and how they blend so brilliantly.

I also used a Tim Holtz stamp from the Mixed Media set stamped with Peacock Distress Ink to add some more dimension to the background. I watered down some white gesso and dripped it down the page and used a credit card to add some to various areas of the page.

I used a Wendi Vecchi stamp and archival ink to stamp the flowers onto paper towels that had been used to wipe up my inky craft mat. I then fussy cut the flowers out, glued them onto the page and added a bit of stickles in the center.

The flower stems are tissue tape that I tore in half. I then painted the tissue tape with Peeled Paint and Mowed Grass Distress Paint. To make the flowers pop off the page a bit I went around them with a white pen.

I am submitting this to the Simon Says Stamp Color Challenge. Be sure to stop by and see all of the wonderful creations. Thank you for stopping by and I hope you are having a colorful, cheery day!.

  1. Wow! Your art journal pages are beautiful. I love all of the color! What a gorgeous blended background. Your flowers rising up on the long stems are very effective. I love the stamping of the flower petals was also very nice and very effective. I also loved the message of your sentiment and how you incorporated it with your design. Thanks for joining us at Simon Says Stamp and Show. Hugs, Candy
