I am taking a wonderful Collage Art Journal class taught by the very talented Kelly Kilmer. My first assignment was to make my journal. I kept the covers flat, without any chunky embellishments, until the journal is complete. This way it will be easier to work on the pages. For the base I covered chipboard with Dictionary Tissue Wrap.
I have a large stack of used paper towels and baby wipes. These were used to clean up inky and painted messes I had made from previous projects. They were too pretty to throw out. I collaged the paper towels together and ironed them onto fusible webbing. I then tore that up again and glued it onto my covers
My spine is a piece of fabric ironed to fusible webbing and then glued to tyvek. I then followed the directions provided by Kelly to stitch my pages to the spine.
I used watercolor paper and scrapbook paper for my pages. The smaller pages are envelopes I made using scrapbook paper. I wanted to have some envelopes to hide some of my journaling and thoughts.
So that is my empty journal made from a bit of this and that. I hope to start working on my pages soon, so stop back to see my progress. Thanks again for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderfully creative day!
