Shabby Chic Friend ATC

Over at Simon Says Stamp and Show the Challenge for the week is Chic to be Shabby.  Be sure to pop on over and check out the wonderful creations and enter for a chance to win a Gift Certificate from Simon Says Stamp. I decided to create an ATC for the challenge.

I started by adding a bit of gesso in just a few places on my ATC. This will give it an added dimension after you ink over it.

I wanted to use some soft colors for the Chic look. So I inked the entire ATC with Victorian Velvet Distress Ink. You can see the streaks of lighter pink where the gesso was.

This month I was determined to participate in the All Things Tim Yahoo Group ATC swap. The theme is circles. I used several Tim Holtz circle stamps for the background. And to mix the two themes, Shabby Chic and circles, I used the Tim Holtz on the edge doily die to cut out a piece of fabric. After all a doily is round, lacy , and very Shabby Chic. I then inked the fabric with Tumbled Glass Distress stain and sprayed it with a bit of Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls Mist.

I decided to add even more circles to the ATC by embossing it with the Bubble Wrap embossing folder. I then highlighted a few of the raised circles with Glossy Accents.

Again mixing the two themes, I used a scrap piece of paper with buttons on it. The paper is from the Tim Holtz Crowded Attic Collection.

I added some gesso over the top of the paper, crinkled it up and then sprayed it with Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls Mist.

The final touches are the friendship saying and the vintage button. As always thank you for stopping by.

  1. Hi Stacy. Your card is so pretty. I really like the design of the front. The stenciled doily in the teal tones is so lovely against the more orange tones in the background. Your use of circles is wonderful! I love the bubble wrap, the stamps, all of it! Thanks for sharing your cards with us at Simon Says Stamp and Show. <3 Candy

  2. A very cool card! Clever combining of Shabby Chic and circles! I really like how you used gesso on the base for added dimension--will have to try that. The lace doily fabric die cut was a great idea!
