I know my poor neglected blog. I have been trying to create, but most of my projects are a work in progress and no where near ready to share. Even though my book is not yet complete, only about 50% complete at this time, I wanted to share a few pages.
I am creating this book for a swap for the Art for the Creative Mind Yahoo Group. The theme for the book is Romantic Era. I was going for an old vintage romance feel for the pages. The edge of the pages were layered with lots of brown Distress Stain and Ink and white Gesso and then stamped with various stamps.
I transferred the image of the couple, found at Victorian Vignettes, onto some sticky back canvas and frayed the edges a bit to soften it up. I also frayed and inked the edges of the papers so they looked a bit worn.
The crochet flowers and vintage buttons i had laying around in my stash. I used some lace died with Victorian Velvet Distress Ink to make a third flower and again added a vintage button to it.
The paper doilies under the flowers are sprayed with Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls mist for some added shimmer. The background paper was also sprayed with the Perfect Pearls Mist using a doily as a mask. I hope you can see some of this in the pictures.
The next 2 pages follow a similar theme. This time I could not find background paper that I liked. So I added lots of layers of Victorian Velvet, Tumbled Glass, Bundled Sage, and Gathered Twigs Distress Ink along with white acrylic paint and various Tissue Tapes to the paper. I really should have taken a before and after picture of this.
The poem is printed on a manila tag inked with Victorian Velvet, Tumbled Glass, Bundled Sage, and Gathered Twigs Distress Ink and then stamped along the edges. I added a Prima Flower and a piece of Velvet ribbon to finish off the page.
I saw this wonderful doily pocket while browsing through the Internet and just had to try it. I did not have any fabric doilies to use so I created the pocket using some white felt cut with the Tim Holtz On the Edge Doily Die. I stamped the white felt with Archival Coffee Ink and the Tim Holtz Wallpaper Stamp. Then to finish off the pocket I added some velvet ribbon and more Prima flowers.
I am submitting this to the Simon Says Stamp and Show Love Lace Challenge. I encourage you to check out the challenge for a chance to win a gift certificate to Simon Says Stamp.
Thank you for stopping by and stay tuned for the finished product!
