A Fun Trip and a Scary Canvas

I have been rather busy and not paying much attention to my blog. So here is where I have been and what I have been working on.
My husband and I went to Chicago for a much needed vacation. Let me just say we had a great time in a wonderful city. We walked everywhere, saw some free concerts, got rained on, did some shopping, ate some delicious food, and just really enjoyed the sights.

And now for what I have been working on - the Scary Canvas Topper. I am hosting a Halloween Canvas swap for the All Things Tim Yahoo Group. Everyone makes a set size tag and then I will be assembling a canvas together using those tags. My part in the swap is the topper and charms. Stay tuned for the charms, but in the mean time here is the topper.

I wanted to have the date and the name of the swap group on the canvas piece, so I used one of the tombstones to add this. This particular tombstone is painted with Picket Fence Crackle paint and then inked over with Distress Ink

The next tombstone is painted with Gold and Silver Paint Dabbers. I then stamped over the tombstone with the a stamp from the Tim Holtz Bitty Grungy stamp set and archival ink to add an aged look
The final Tombstone has been done the same as the previous tombstone. I added a little spider using crystals for the head and body. I simply took a black pen and drew the legs on. The hands that you see coming out of the ground are inked with Antique Linen Distress ink and then some Black Soot Distress Embossing powder was added in sporadic areas to look like dirt.

The black cat was die cut out of black cardstock. To Popped the cat off and added some Rock Candy Distress Stickles for some added texture and interest.
I purchased a bunch of small pumpkins from my local craft store and then cut them in half. I cut the swirls out using the Tim Holtz Festive Greenery die and then inked them with Dusty Concord and Ripe Persimmon Distress ink. I am submitting this to the Simon Says Stamp Challenge Anything goes.

So I have my prototype done now to make 56 more.Could be another busy week. So thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a great week!
