Mini in a Mini

If you have been following along you know that I am hosting a Summer Travel Book Swap on the All Things Tim Yahoo Group. I am making the front cover, which you can see in 2 previous posts, and back covers for the book. I just finished up the inside of the back cover. The page has a mini matchbook album within the page - So a mini in a mini! If you would like to see how I made the Mini Matchbook album go here.
I wanted to keep the background rather plain as there was a lot of other stuff going on with the page. So I cut a piece of white cardstock out of the Washers die and used it as a stencil.

I used White Gesso to paint over the washer stencil. The pattern is not perfect, but I like the look and the added texture of the Gesso. I am entering this in the Simon Says Stamp and Show Spritz, Spray or Stencil Challenge.

Next I flicked some watered own ink onto the background. I applied Salty Ocean, Mowed Grass, Squeezed Lemonade, and Dried Marigold Distress Inks directly to my craft mat and then spritz them with water. I then dipped my fingers into the ink and flicked it onto the background. I think this counts as the Spritz and Spray portion for the Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge.
Now onto the interactive portion of the page. I inked up a white piece of cardstock with Mowed Grass Distress Ink, distressed the edges and then embossed it with the Honeycomb Embossing Folder. This was my base for the flip up. The map on the flip up page is stamped in Black Archival ink with a stamp from the Tim Holtz  Air Travel Set. I then inked it with Salty Ocean Distress Ink.
I decide to leave the inside of the flip up very plain so the recipients of the swap could add their own photos, journaling, or ephemera. I simply just inked the inside with Squeezed Lemonade and Dried Marigold Distress Inks.
The flip up stays closed with a magnet closure. I stamped the compass with Black Archival ink and a stamp form the same Air Travel Set. I then inked it with Antique Linen Distress Ink and applied several layers of Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel.

The magnet is glued down under the compass stamp and then onto the blue map. The second magnet is glued in between the flip up page and the honeycomb green background.

The compass is popped up with the magnet so that the mini matchbook album slides right into the slot. I thought that the mini matchbook album could be taken with you on Summer Adventures and journaled in. It is a nice small size to fit into your pocket or purse.
Thank you for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed this post and hope that you enjoy any Summer Adventures you may be taking!
