Happy Mother's Day

It is time to celebrate Mother's Day and what better way than through handmade gifts. I decided to make two faux canvas pieces this year - one for my mom and one for my Mother-in-law.
For the first piece I used Heirloom Gold and Blue Smoke Perfect Pearls Mist to spray the background. I stamped several images on the background using Jet Black Archival Ink, Tim Holtz's Shabby French stamp set, and Wood Grain embossing folder.
I used Dylusions Chequered Dots stencil and Chipped Sapphire, Victorian Velvet, and Aged Mahogany Distress Ink for the pattern on the sides.
My title, Love, is made with grunge paper covered in Tim Holtz's Tissue Tape and then sprayed with Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls Mist. The letters are mounted on grunge board that is colored with Aged Mahogany Distress Stain and Rock Candy Distress Crackle. The cute little bow is made from Tim Holtz's Film Strip and a Prima button. The various Prima flowers add the final touch.

Here are a few more Prima flowers with some Prima Say It In Pearls bling. The metal corner pieces really make the picture pop off of background. The red and blue background was made from crinkling up tissue paper and inking it with Chipped Sapphire, Victorian Velvet, Tumbled Glass, and Aged Mahogany Distress Stains.

My second faux canvas piece has more pastel colors. I applied Tattered Rose, Shabby Shutters, and Broken China Distress Stains on a wet piece of white cardstock. I then crinkled the damp, stained paper up in several directions. I also used several Tim Holtz items to stamp the background including: the Shabby French stamp set, Bricked embossing folder, and Damask embossing folder.

For some extra dimension I inked a piece of cheese cloth and placed it on a portion of the background.
The word family was die cut out of grunge paper, embossed with several layers of UTEE, colored with Shell Pink Alcohol Ink, and stamped with a stamp from the Bitty Grunge stamp set.
I embellished with Prima flowers and tiles.
Here are a few more Prima flowers. The lace piece was die cut from Vintage Lace die and colored with Tattered Rose, Black Soot, Shabby Shutters, and Broken China Distress Stains. I am entering this in the Inspiration Emporium Bring on the May flowers Challenge.
Thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoy this Mother's Day!
