Ready to Go!

I have finished my Art Journal cover and I am now ready to start this new adventure. My goal to use my art journal once a week at least. I would like to use it to express my thoughts, my dreams, my feelings, and in general just everyday life. Journaling is not my forte and I often struggle with this when scrapbooking. I am hoping that since I enjoy making art pieces this will not be such a hard task and I may even get better at the journaling part. So enough about journaling - here is my finished cover.

I stamped the edges of my watercolor paper using Black Soot Distress ink and a stamp from the Tim Holtz Bitty Grunge stamp set. I then applied several colors of Distress Ink to my craft mat, sprayed them with water and dabbed my paper into them. Tim Holtz calls this wrinkle free Distress and boy is it fun and easy. And speaking of fun I am submitting this to the Simon Says Stamp and Show A Lord Tim technique Challenge for a chance to win a gift certifiacte to Simon Says Stamp.

I wanted the cover to look girly and grungy to reflect myself. I used the Tattered Florals die and cut flowers out of grunge board and doilies. I then painted the grunge board with black acrylic paint and attached the doily flowers to the grunge board. I then inked up the flowers and a large doily using Dusty Concord Distress Ink. I added some glimmer by spraying them with Perfect Pearls.

The gears and the ornate plate I felt needed a bit of color so I used Espresso and Pesto Alcohol inks and inked them up a bit. I used Shabby Shutters and Peeled Paint Distress embossing Powder on the tiny brads to add some color and grunge them up a bit.

I added some Sketchbook Tissue Tape and wrinkled it up a bit to add some more texture to the cover. I then inked the wrinkled tissue tape up with Pumice Stone Distress Ink. The Dream Ticket is also crumbled up a bit and inked with the Pumice Stone Distress Ink. I used the Faux Crazed Porcelain by Spilt Coast Stampers  technique for the word ART.

Hopefully next week at this time I will have another page to show you. Over at Electric Paperie they are having a journal cover challenge so I am entering this in that as well. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!
