Fun with Texture

I am a bit behind this month and really wanted to accomplish 2 things today - one make an ATC for my favorite store and two keep my promise to myself to complete a page in my art journal at least once a week. Well both projects did get accomplished!

First for my ATC (Artist Trading Card) My all time favorite store is Absolutely Everything. These guys are amazing. So when decided to have an ATC challenge for the wonderful All Things Tim Yahoo group, of course I had to participate.

To create the textured background I used the left over packaging from the Tim Holtz reinforcers. I placed this onto the ATC and then added modeling paste over top of it all with a piece of an old credit card. I pulled off the packaging before the paste dried and was left with this really cool background pattern.

After the paste was completely dry I  Peeled Paint and Tumbled Glass Distress Stains to color the background.

For some added texture, because I did not think the large pronounced circles were enough, I added Rock Candy Distress Crackle to the entire ATC. I scraped off the top a bit and when I did this some of the ink came off too. I really liked the look of this.

The final touches were a ticket inked and stamped in Wild Honey Distress Ink, some twin, and a Tim Holtz Memo Pin filled with a left over piece from the reinforcers and Glossy accents.

Now onto my art Journal. I started by covering both pages in journaling - I wrote until I ran out of space and then I picked out a few words and went back over them in black marker. I created texture the same way with modeling paste and the reinforcers packaging. After that was dry I used feathers and plastic canvas to create stencils. I sprayed over them with my new Dylusions Spray ink. Just love the colors these came in, which I ordered from Absolutely Everything.

I then used some background stamps from Tim Holtz 's Bitty Grunge stamp set. I stamped the images using Black Archival Ink and a Pearl Paint Dabber. For the last and final step I added some more texture using  Crackle Rock Candy and dabs of Glossy Accents.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed my ATC and journal page.
