I picked up a bunch of metal storage tins for less than $1.00 a piece several months back now. I wanted to put in miscellaneous supplies like paper clips and rubber bands for my office/craft room and then decorate them and display them. Well I am finally getting around to decorating them.
Here is what the finished tin looks like.
I first used alcohol ink to cover the entire outside of the tin and add some color to it. Then I stamped images onto tissue paper using archival ink. The stamps I used came form Tim Hotlz's Urban Chic and Regal Flourish collections. I then glued the stamped tissue paper to the inked tin using Modge Podge. I did this very gently with a sponge brush so as not to rip the delicate tissue paper.
The tin still needed a bit more so I jumped on over to Tim's blog to check out the mosaic 12 tags of 20112 March creation. I did not have the butterfly die so I used the tattered Floral die. I did not add as much Utee to my flowers, so they look like they have drops of dew on them. I love how the mosaic flowers came out. Be sure to check out the March Tag to see exactly how to do this wonderful technique. I adhered the flowers to a small magnet. This way I can move the flowers around on the tin if I would like. I think I am also going to make a label using magnetic tape for the tins so I know exactly what is in them.
Thanks for stopping by.
