Valentines Day Card Monthly Challenge

I am so excited and honored to be in charge of the Monthly Challenge on the  All Things Tim Yahoo Group . This is a wonderful yahoo group and I encourage anyone interested in Tim Holtz, scrapbooking, art, stamping, or card making to join this group.
For February I have selected Valentines Day, Romance, or something you love of course. Here is my Valentines Day card example. I had to improvise a bit on this because I do not have any Valentines Day stamps or paper.

For the back ground piece I used a scrap piece of paper (sorry I have know idea where I got this or what it is called) and roughed up the edges. I then stamped a tan piece of cardstock with Tim Holtz dots stamp from the Bitty Grungy Stamp set. I used Distress Stains Fired Brick, Worn Lipstick, and Barn Door to ink up the stamp. I also inked up the edges of the stamped tan cardsatock with Distress Ink Black Soot.

I used Tim Holtz's heart stamp from the Urban Chic stamp set. I stamped the image onto tan cardstock in Distress Ink Black Soot. I also inked up the edges of this with Distress Ink Fired Brick. I then added Fired Brick Distress Sickles to add a bit of sparkle to the heart. Speaking of hearts, the Artistic Stamper Creative Team's February Challenge is hearts. I have entered this into their challenge

I have been dying to use the Tattered Pine Cone die since my wonderful husband gave it to me for Christmas. I have watched a lot of tutorials on how to make roses using this die. Here is where you can find Tim Holtz's tutorial.  I inked up just the edges or the die cut out with Distress Ink Fired Brick to add a bit more dimension to the roses. One hint I found was to spray the cut out with water or I used Perfect Pearls Mists before you start to roll it. This make it a bit more pliable and easier to roll. I used Perfect Pearl on the pink rose and Forever Red Perfect Pearls Mist on the red roses.

Here is another helpful link and more options for the Tattered Pine Cone die. Four Flowers out of one die

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Valentines Day to everyone. My next post will be a scrapbook layout on something/someone I love, so please check back.

  1. Beautiful and very creative! Thanks for the awesome tutorial as well. I know sometimes writing it all down as you go isn't as easy as it seems. Happy V-day! Lisajake128
