I am trying hard not to neglect my blog - but I have. So my inspiration this week was my nieces birthday and a few challenges. Here is the finished Birthday card.
One of the challenges that motivated me this week was over at Studio L3 the Grungy Monday 34 Crackle Challenge. Since my niece is not really a pink and purple girl I decided to use blues and greens. So for the background I followed Tim Holtz's crackle resist affect and applied some Peeled Paint Crackle paint in a few areas. Then of course let it dry and crackle. I then went over it with Distress inks Broken china and Chipped Sapphire. That was not quite enough for the background so I stamped it using the Chipped Sapphire and a stamp form Tim Holtz's Urban Chic set.
Next I cut out the winged Heart out of Grunge paper and then of course had to add more crackle. This time I used Fired Brick on the red heart, inked the wings with chipped Sapphire, and then painted the silver crown and silver heart with my silver paint dabber.
Last but not least I added the Celebrate. I cut this out using my Cricut and the Happy Hauntings cartridge. I then covered the letters with black uttee to add a bit of shimmer to them. Over at Simon Says Stamp and Show the challenge is to include a song title in your entry. So I thought what better song to celebrate a birthday than the song: Celebration by Kool & the Gang from their album Celebrate!
A few more challenges that I entered the card in are:
Samuel Taylors a distress Challenge for some great re-inkers
Craft Your Days Away another distress challenge - who doesn't love distressing
So thanks for stopping by and Celebrate the day!
